After several late pm and early am phone discussions with our clients across the globe, we were to design a new identity system for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Studying about a new culture and finding appropriate symbols to represent an unfamiliar region simply wasn’t the easiest task. I was among several designers who had contributed to the initial concepts.

I went from WARATAH, the state flower of New South Wales where the Orchestra is located, to organic jumping kangaroos; from musical symbols to whimsical abstractions. Unfortunately these sketches didn’t make it to the final round for various reasons but they remained some of my favorite explorations.
