My wedding identity
This is one of the most personal projects I have worked on.
My husband and I are Chinese expats from Boston, and we are also two souls brought together in the spiritual family of the Lord. We wanted our wedding to be elegant and warm, and we hoped that it would reflect our cultural traditions and faith which we value so much. Among the several emblems I have crafted, we decided to go with a mark that shows a mirrored image of a heart. Drawn with a “V” shape that suggested my initial, the heart was repeated and rotated 180 degree to become a “P”, my husband’s initial. The mark symbolized that we were created out of the same image, and that we’re uniting as one.
We went with a floral theme, and the idea originated from the design of my floral engagement ring. Peonies and large roses with many layers of petals were the choices of flowers; and hand-tied silk bridal bouquets, pew floral arrangements, and other floral embellishment shaped the texture of the wedding. We chose the spring/summer-friendly coral as the theme color, it also paired well with gold and red—the given wedding colors from our tradition. The addition of floral lace pattern was an inspiration from the fabrics of my wedding gown; it added fine details, texture and delicacy.
